Solidarity with Kenyan youth and demand for the immediate release of detainee from the Sahel

Coalition Together to Save the Sahel – CPSS Member of the international socialist network SOVINTERN

The Coalition Together to Save the Sahel (CPSS), a Sahelian civil society organization committed to social justice and the sovereignty of peoples, is following the situation in Kenya with deep concern.

We salute the courage of Kenyan youth

We pay tribute to the young people of Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, and all of Kenya who are peacefully demonstrating against imperialism, injustice, and repression. Their mobilization is legitimate. It is part of the struggle of all African peoples for dignity, transparency, and the right to determine their own future.

We condemn the repression and demand the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees

The CPSS denounces the disproportionate use of force that resulted in arbitrary arrests during the demonstrations of May 12, 2025.

We demand:

  • The unconditional release of all detained protesters
  • The cessation of all legal proceedings against them

We reject any foreign instrumentalization of African crises

African peoples do not need guardians. International partnerships must be grounded in respect for sovereignty and human rights, not in support for governments contested by their own populations.

Our Commitment

As a Sahelian organization, the CPSS affirms its unwavering solidarity with peoples struggling for justice. What is happening in Nairobi concerns Bamako, Ouagadougou, Niamey, and the entire Sahel. Our destinies are intertwined.

The CPSS calls upon the African Union, human rights organizations, and the international community to mobilize for the protection of protesters and the respect of fundamental freedoms in Kenya.
